Compatibility

What does the beta support?

DeSpy is compatible with Windows and Mac-based computers. There is a CLI for Linux as well; we hope to release a Linux version soon.

DeSpy supports most iPhones back to iPhone 6 and most Android-based mobile phones. You may require drivers for certain Samsung devices. DeSpy will let you know if you do and provide information on where to download them.

Features

Can DeSpy remove apps or data from my device?

No. DeSpy is designed to identify stalkerware, spyware, and apps that capture your information. DeSpy provides a detailed report of findings, references, and, in many cases, guidance on how to remove offending apps; however, DeSpy does not remove them for you.

  • Detection Capabilities: DeSpy performs an exhaustive scan to flag applications that exhibit behaviors associated with surveillance, unauthorized data collection, or stalkerware patterns.
  • Actionable Intelligence: Rather than acting as a traditional antivirus or uninstaller, the platform focuses on transparency and user empowerment by detailing exactly what information an app is accessing and why it has been flagged.
  • Removal Guidance: While the software does not possess the administrative permissions to delete third-party applications from your device, it serves as a critical diagnostic tool. It provides the specific steps or instructions required for the user to manually uninstall the identified software, ensuring the user remains in complete control of their device’s security and data privacy.

Privacy

Does DeSpy upload my phone data?

No. The DeSpy scanner is designed around local-first review and private outputs. The data from your device is extracted and stored locally on your computer’s hard drive or USB Media; no data is ever sent to teh DeSpy servers.

There is a feature to send unknown apps to DeSpy. The data sent is encrypted, but it is generally metadata and basic information about the app. We never knowingly extract users’ personal data. When it is sent, the request is assigned a GUID (a long alphanumeric number) and you receive that number to check the request. You may submit your email address; however, it is not required.

Does DeSpy use my data to train AI Models?

No, never. DeSpy is committed to the highest standards of data security and user privacy. We do not—and will not—send your personal data to any third-party LLM Frontier Models.

While we are currently developing a proprietary AI model specifically for privacy detection, this technology is designed with a privacy-first architecture. Our model will operate exclusively on our secure servers or locally on your own computer. Regardless of how you choose to deploy it, our AI model is engineered to ensure that your personal information is never processed or accessed by external systems.

Key Privacy Commitments:

  • Zero External Transmission: Your sensitive data remains within the DeSpy environment at all times.
  • On-Premise Processing: We prioritize local execution, giving you full control over your data footprint.
  • Privacy-Centric Architecture: Our internal AI models are built to identify privacy risks without requiring the ingestion of your personal data.
