CISA's summary
Summary: Solid Edge is affected by multiple memory corruption vulnerabilities that could be triggered when the application reads specially crafted files in various formats such as DWG, IFC, OBJ or STP format. If a user is tricked to open a malicious file with the affected application, an attacker could leverage the vulnerability to crash the application or execute arbitrary code. Siemens has released several updates for Solid Edge SE2023 and recommends to update to the latest version.

Vulnerabilities in this advisory
- CVE-2023-0973 — CVE-2023-0973 · CWE-476
STEPTools v18SP1 ifcmesh library (v18.1) is affected due to a null pointer dereference, which could allow an attacker to deny application usage when reading a specially constructed file, resulting in an application crash. (ZDI-CAN-19429)
- CVE-2023-30985 — CVE-2023-30985 · CWE-125
Affected applications contain an out of bounds read past the end of an allocated buffer while parsing a specially crafted OBJ file. This vulnerability could allow an attacker to disclose sensitive information. (ZDI-CAN-19426)
- CVE-2023-30986 — CVE-2023-30986 · CWE-119
Affected applications contain a memory corruption vulnerability while parsing specially crafted STP files. This could allow an attacker to execute code in the context of the current process. (ZDI-CAN-19561)
- CVE-2023-39549 — CVE-2023-39549 · CWE-416
The affected application contains a use-after-free vulnerability that could be triggered while parsing specially crafted DWG file. An attacker could leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the current process. (ZDI-CAN-19562)
